Hugo’s 2011 Potato Bowl Run Raises $1,500 for East Grand Forks Food Shelf

For the past four years, Hugo’s Family Markets has been the lead sponsor of the Hugo’s Potato Bowl 8K Run and Tater Tot Trot.  Other sponsors this year included the Citizen’s Community Credit Union and Taco John’s. The races were held at Riverside Park in Grand Forks on September 22nd.

Each year the proceeds from the races go to help fight hunger in the greater Grand Forks area.  Under the leadership of Julie Kirkeby of the Center Court Fitness Center in Grand Forks, the event has grown each year; this year attracting over 130 runners.

This year Hugo’s selected the East Grand Forks Food Shelf to be the recipient of $1,500 raised through sponsorships and runner entry fees.  Christina Campos who runs the East Grand Forks Food Shelf said, “We are very grateful.  This will help us purchase ground beef and milk for which we always have a need.”

The East Grand Forks Food Shelf is located at 1715 3rd Ave, NW in East Grand Forks, MN.  The Food Shelf is open three days a week; Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 to 5:00, and Friday from 10:00 to 2:00.
