2011 FRENCH FRY FEED SETS NEW RECORD!
OVER TWO AND A HALF TONS OF FRENCH FRIES WERE SERVED AT UNIVERSITY PARK IN GRAND FORKS ON THE EVENING OF SEPTEMBER 22, 2011. 5,010 POUNDS TO BE EXACT! THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD SET IN 2008 BY 120 POUNDS. THANKS TO SCOTT LUND AND HIS CREW FROM THE J.R. SIMPLOT COMPANY, AND TO ALL THOSE THAT TURNED OUT TO HELP US BREAK THE RECORD!
The world’s largest French Fry Feed in University Park and a Fireworks Show at Memorial Stadium top the list of events in Grand Forks on the evening of September 22nd, but there is much, much more!
- Free french fries courtesy of the J.R. Simplot Company. A larger capacity fryer will be ready to break our own world record of french fries served at a single event of 4,890 lbs. set in 2008.
- Free fireworks at Memorial Stadium courtesy of Rydell Auto Center
, first 500 to enter Memorial stadium will receive a coupon for a free bag of potatoes courtesy Black Gold Farms and the first 500 kids will get a free glow stick! - Ronald McDonald live and in person!
- J.R. Simplot French Fry Eating Contest on the main stage beginning at 6:00. Registration on site.
- Meet the Sioux athletes!
- A large assortment of inflatable games!
- Magic act and balloon twisting from Jeffery Salveson!
- Potato picking contest courtesy NoKota Packers – Registration 5:00 to 5:45 followed by races, youngest to oldest.

- Potato Giveaway – Black Gold Farms will give a coupon valued at $2.50 for potatoes at any Hugo’s location to the first 500 families to enter the gates at Memorial Stadium
- Free Glow Sticks – Kids will get a free glow stick at the fireworks display courtesy Black Gold Farms, while supplies last.
Activities begin at University Park a half hour earlier this year at 4:30 PM. French fries will be served until dusk when we make the short walk to Memorial Stadium to watch the fireworks!
Up to 10,000 people attend this event every year! Make it an evening to celebrate the potato, the Fighting Sioux, and friendships of those around you!
